Fragmented delivery kills African power schedules. One firm quotes turbines, another designs the civils and a third promises O&M it never staffs. Customs delays, fuel quality, altitude derates and community interfaces punish every handover. USP&E’s Extreme Ownership model removes those interfaces: one contract, one team, one process.
What we deliver
Power plant engineering
Feasibility, owner’s engineering and detailed design for African heat, altitude, fuel and grid or island conditions.
Engineering ›
EPC and EPCM projects
Procurement, construction, QA/QC and commissioning under a single point of accountability.
EPC projects ›
Operations and maintenance
Round-the-clock operations, planned maintenance, overhauls, spares and training for local teams.
O&M ›
Asset refurbishment
Overhauls, life extension and remanufacturing, including GE Frame 6B rebuilds to zero hours.
Refurbishment ›
Engineering built for frontier sites
Every design starts from your real site: ambient temperature, altitude, dust, fuel quality and whether the plant runs on the grid or as an island. Remote performance monitoring is designed in from the start, so the O&M team inherits a plant it can measure.
Project management covers scope, risk, stakeholders, cost, resources, time, quality and procurement on every project. We are brand-agnostic across Wärtsilä, Hyundai HiMSEN, MAN, Caterpillar, GE, Siemens and Bergen, and select equipment for your duty and service access.
Procurement and construction
Procurement covers gensets, turbines, switchgear, transformers, fuel systems and balance of plant, with verified equipment available from USP&E inventory. Our own construction managers oversee QA/QC on site. Commissioning includes load-bank testing, protection testing and performance demonstration, so handover is earned, not assumed.
Operations and maintenance you can measure
O&M covers 24/7 operations, planned maintenance, condition monitoring, overhaul and rehabilitation, spares logistics and training that builds local capability. For mines, factories, utilities and data centres, that means predictable uptime and clear performance reporting. Read more about O&M across Africa.
Ways to work with us

Why owners choose USP&E
USP&E is a full-service engineering, EPC and O&M company, not a broker. One team designs, builds and runs your plant, so nothing falls between contracts.
How a project runs
- Scope: share your load, fuel, site and timeline. We return options, not a sales pitch.
- Engineer and deliver: design, procure, build and commission under one contract.
- Operate: long-term O&M with performance reporting and local training.
Common questions
Does USP&E provide EPC and O&M in Africa?
Yes. USP&E delivers engineering, EPC, EPCM and long-term O&M across Africa, with offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
Is USP&E a broker?
No. USP&E is a full-service engineering, EPC and O&M company. The team that designs your plant stays accountable for running it.
Where do I find equipment for an EPC project?
Browse USP&E inventory for turbines and generators, or ask an engineer for a shortlist.
Can USP&E take over an existing plant?
Yes. USP&E regularly takes over O&M of plants built by others, starting with a condition assessment and recovery plan.
